She became Master of Arts (Photography) from University of Art and Design (UIAH) in Helsinki in 2002 and she is part of The Helsinki School . With regards to her style, mental and social structures as well as experiencing the culture are the basic themes of Hänninen’s work. She has also received numerous awards, like 2008 Nomination for Carnegie Art Award and 2010 Nomination for the Prix Pictet on the series Recordings.
